Toys for Tots

Mason will once again participate in the annual U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program, which provides toys and gifts for needy children during the winter holiday season.

You can participate in the U. S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program by donating a new, unwrapped toy to the Office of Military Services on campus or through any Toy for Tots kiosk in the JC.

You may also contact CPL David Campbell in the OMS at dcampb1@gmu.edu for more  information and to give monetary contributions.


Paid Internship Clare Boothe Luce Policy Institute

The Clare Boothe Luce Policy Institute, a highly regarded women’s organization is offering PAID spring internships for Mason students.  The application deadline is Nov 15 (1 week from today) and they are really flexible with schedules.

Foreign Policy Initiative Forum

We are proud to announce a great opportunity for Mason students.

Monday the 15, and Tuesday the 16th, FPI is holding a major conference in DC that will have a lot of news coming out of it. Senators McCain and Lieberman, Russian democracy activist Boris Nemtsov, former Spanish PM Jose Maria Aznar, and Rep. Buck McKeon (the next HASC Chairman, who will use his time there to lay out his agenda for the 112th Congress) will all be there. Also in attendance will be a panel of incoming Congressmen and Senators (or learned experts in the field) to talk about foreign policy in the next Congress.

We are proud to announce that this year, Support the Troops Week will coincide with Veterans Day!

From Nov 8th – Nov 11, we will be collecting the following donations for our troops:

  • cards/notes
  • DVDS/Books
  • non-perishable food
  • toiletries, esp. razors
  • insoles/socks

Can’t go to the store? No problem! Use your mason money at the connivence store in the JC or Chesapeake to food and toiletries!

Monday, Nov 8th – Collecting donations from 10 am – 12 pm at JC kiosk B

Tuesday, Nov 9th – Collecting donations from 4 pm – 6 pm at JC kiosk C

Wednesday, Nov 10 – Collecting donations from 10 am – 12 pm at JC kiosk F

Thursday, Nov 11th – Collecting donations from 10 am – 11 am at JC kiosk B

Other Events

Tuesday, Nov. 9thSupport the Troops Week Speakers! – Special guest Capt. Darin Selnick, USAF (Ret.). Served as Director of Faith-Based Initiatives in the VA under President Bush and is currently the FCRC Veterans Coalition Chairman.

We  will also host 2Lt. Scott Bennett, US Army Psychological Operationsand Mason alumnus. Lt. Bennett will be discusses PsyOps in the current War on Terror and how it relates to counterinsurgency (COIN).

This event will take place at 7:30 pm in the Johnson Center Gold Room
